No surprise here. The best-selling artist and album of 2011, Adele, swept the 2012 Grammys in all of the major categories.

Let some tell it, Adele is the antidote to all that ails the supposedly wretched state of pop music. Costumes, dancers and showmanship are now lobbed under the derogatory term "gimmicks." And Adele, who painfully takes strides to do nothing more than dress in all black and sing, is tastefully gimmick-free. (Which is arguably a gimmick in itself, but we'll save that for another day)
As a white soul singer with massive record sales, immense talent and the backing of record industry powerhouses, Adele's victory was a shoe-in. And the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) did not hesitate in rewarding the Brit supejklrstar every step of the way.
Adele scooped up Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album and more. The sweep nature is common with the Grammys. Alicia Keys, Lauryn Hill and Beyonce have all swept the Grammys awards in a similar fashion, as having an artist rack up awards makes for a good "conquer the world" headline
